Partnership with other international bodies and involvement in regional initiatives
Interim Secretariat of the Carpathian Convention
At the 1st Conference of the Parties to the Carpathian Convention in Kiev (December 2006) Memorandum of Cooperation has been signed between the Interim Secretariat of the Carpathian Convention (ISCC - UNEP, Vienna - United Nations Environment Programme) and the CERI. CERI maintains cooperation and strengthens partnership with this international body via its active participation and network representation on various international and national expert and strategic meetings. This increased the potential for CERI to communicate its goals in the most open and participatory manner – via local, state and regional governments, other major NGOs and NGO networks, donors and external stakeholders.
Carpathian Network of Protected Areas
CERI actively supports the initiative for the official establishment of Carpathian Network for Protected Areas in order to improve cooperation among protected areas in Carpathians for more effective nature protection.
Carpathian Wetlands Initiative
CERI represents the Carpathian NGOs and research institutes at the relevant meetings related to the Carpathian Wetlands Initiative, supported also by the Ramsar International. One of CERI main activities, development of the Carpathian Ecological Network, will significantly contribute to the protection of wetlands in the region, therefore close contact is maintained and information is exchanged with the CWI coordinators.
Network organisations active in the Carpathian region (WWF-DCP, CEEWEB, REC, ANPED, ECNC):
CERI initiates cooperation, joins other regional initiatives and contributes to the activities of other international networks in order to strengthen the influence at the international political level and prevent overlaps in activities.
