Czech Republic

Czech Environmental Partnership Foundation (EPCE– Czech Republic)

The Czech Environmental Partnership is the most important Czech foundation supporting environmental projects in all regions of the Czech Republic. Together with five other foundations from Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Slovakia, the CEPF is a member of the Association Environmental Partnership for Sustainable Development. The Environmental Partnership's mission is to assist NGOs, communities and other partners in care of the environment and to stimulate sustainable development, cross-sector co-operation and public participation in civil society. The CEPF is a founding member of CERI. Its role within the Carpathian EcoRegion Initiative is a National Focal Point for the Czech Republic

Bile Karpaty Education and Information Centre

Education and Information Centre Bílé Karpaty, o.p.s. is a non-profit organisation. The founders are: the town of Veselí nad Moravou, the local branch "Bílé Karpaty" of the Czech Union for Nature Conservation, and the Administration of Protected Landscape Areas in the Czech Republic. It organises a broad range of activities (environmental education programmes, trainings, field excursions, eco-counselling), preferably in the region of Morava. EIC Bile Karpaty is a member of PAVUČINA - Association of environmental education centres and STEP ČR – a network of eco-counsellors.

Civil Association Beskydcan

The Association focuses the activities at raising environmental public awareness in the region of Moravskoslezské Beskydy Mts through environmental education in Muchovice (e.g. eco-farm, field trips, excursions), implementation of management measures in nature reserves and eco-counselling.

Central and East European Working Group for the Enhancement of Biodiversity - CEEWEB

CEEWEB is an international network of non-governmental organizations in the Central and Eastern European (CEE) region. The mission of the network is the conservation of biodiversity through the promotion of sustainable development. CEEWEB is a founding member of CERI.

E-misszió Environmental and Nature Conservation Association

The E-misszió Environmental Association works for a sustainable natural and built environment, in which the local society lives, relying on natural, social and economic resources. To achieve their goals they mostly use education, pedagogy and awareness raising; practical activities for improving the state of the natural and built environment; representation of interests and direct, peaceful actions. E-misszió is a National Focal Point for Hungary.

The Institute has a strong professional background dealing with environment and development (e.g. regional planning, rural development, education, environmental policy, biodiversity).

Poland

Foundation for the Support of Ecological Initiatives

The Foundation works on wild life and habitat conservation. Further more, they act as environmental teachers and run programmes with waste recycling and biodiversity. The Foundation hosts the NFP of Poland.

Polish Environmental Partnership Foundation

The Polish EPCE is an independent foundation set up in 1997 to support sustainable development at the local or community level in Poland through building partnerships between business, government and NGOs, delivering good practice, technical assistance and financing and linking together community-based initiatives and projects into national and international networks and programs. Together with five other foundations from Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania and Slovakia, the EPCE is a member of the Environmental Partnership consortium.

The Polish Tatra Society

promotes ecotourism in the Carpathians, organizes meetings to promote and lobby for the protection of the natural and cultural heritage of the Tatra Mountains.

Foundation for Eastern Carpathian Biodiversity Conservation

Activities of the Foundation focus mostly on support for protected areas, conservation of plant and animal genetical resources, protection of habitats and landscape structures, integration of nature conservation with the economic activities of the local populations through promotion of sustainable nature-based toursim. Activities include own ECBC grant programmes involving the three countries in transboundary cooperation and support local projects as well as own projects implemented by the Foundation.

Association of Ecotourism in Romania - AER

AER has the mission to promote the concept and development of ecotourism for the support of nature conservation, local communities in natural areas, and for raising the standard of ecotourism related services - as well as promotion of the nature as an essential element of the Romanian tourist destination image.

Societatea de Stiinte din Cluj

The main topic of Societatea de Stiinte din Cluj is the protection of cave habitats and fauna in Romania. They set up the national Natura 2000 network on cave habitats and established a database of cave fauna with information on endemics, the status of the protection and vulnerability.

Transylvania University of Brasov - Faculty of Silviculture and Forest Engineering

This academic institution promotes the forest certification in the Carpathians, sustainable forest management, wildlife and biodiversity conservation via the forest education and research/technical assistance activity. They Faculty of Silviculture and Forest Engineering is a founding member of CERI and acts as the National Focal Point for Romania.

Kogayon Association

The Kogayon Association's activities are concerned to the environmental protection at a local and national scale, the promotion of tourism and culture, ecology education. The association was founded in this purpose at the initiative and with the resources of a group of students from the Faculties of Geology and Geophysics within the University of Bucharest in 2003.

Apuseni Mountain Club

The Club contributes to conservation of the Natural Reservations “Piatra Cetii”, “Cheile Tecşeştilor” and “Poiana Narciselor”, to raise awareness for environment issues in the central and southern Trascău Mountains and to provide environmental education the for younger generation. The Apuseni Mountain Club from Cluj Napoca is an active member of environmental NGO coalition „ECO CLUJ” and of the Speleological National Society.

Serbia

ECOLIBRI-BIONET

ECOLIBRI-BIONET is an independent, non-governmental, non-profit organization dedicated to biodiversity conservation and sustainable development in Serbia and Montenegro. The agency is the only expert NGO in Serbia and Montenegro that is member of IUCN (The World Conservation Union) since 2000 and therefore, has the capacity and experience to contribute to the development of a Carpathian Ecological Network. Besides, Ecolibri-Bionet is the National Focal Point for Serbia for CERI (Carpathians EcoRegion Initiative).

Association of Young Researchers Bor

The Association of Young Researchers of Bor (AYR Bor) is a non-governmental, non-profitable organisation established in 1976. The basic missions of this NGO are the development of scientific and research work throughout ecological education and rising ecological awareness, protection and development of the living environment, preservation of the biological diversity, and sustainable development of the local community. AYR is the organiser of the scientific meeting about protection of natural values, international voluntary working camp, research on bio- and geo-diversity of the Eastern Serbia area, water-quality, traditional heritage etc.

Centre for Multidisciplinary Studies of the Belgrade University

The Centre for Multidisciplinary Studies of the Belgrade University is a science & research and higher education public establishment founded by the University of Belgrade and the Parliament of Republic of Serbia in 1970, with the aim to promote research and postgraduate education of young scientists in borderline disciplines and multidisciplinary areas of science and research. The scientific staff of the Centre is engaged in areas such as biophysics, neurosciences, biomedical engineering, environmental protection, material sciences, surface phenomena and electrochemistry, artificial intelligence and information technologies.

Ecological Society ENDEMIT

The Ecological Society ENDEMIT is a non-governmental, non-profit and politically independent organization established in 2000 by students of ecology and environmental protection at the Faculty of Biology of Belgrade University. The goals are protection and improvements of the environment, preservation of biological diversity and introduction of sustainable development concept through overall society. This is to be achieved through field research activities, education, information dissemination as well as through national, regional and global cooperation and networking.

Slovakia

DAPHNE - Institute of Applied Ecology

In 1993 a group of young environmentalists had the idea to create an organisation that focused on the professional development of applied environmental research. DAPHNE - Institute of Applied Ecology is a non-profit organization that, since its establishment, has expanded from a scientific organisation focused on applied ecology and research, to a nature conservation organisation with activities aimed at increasing the public's knowledge and understanding of the environment. DAPHNE is a founding member of CERI and hosts the National Focal Point and the Chair of CERI, Jan Seffer.

Ekopolis Foundation - Slovak Environmental Partnership Foundation

The vision of this organization is an advanced civic society with citizens realizing their responsibility for societal development and environmental issues. Societies with citizens, who are interested in participation in public policy, do not hesitate to adopt a critical attitude and who help the system of sustainable development. Institute of Botany of Slovak Academy of Sciences

Institute of Botany, Slovak Academy of Sciences was established in 1963. Ukraine

Ecological Club "Carpathians"

The club is a non-governmental organization founded in 1996. The main activities are protection biodiversity and habitats in the Carpathians as well as ecological education. The organization won a small grants fund by WWF to conduct the project "Improvement of infrastructure for sustainable development of ecological tourism on the territory of the Carpathian Biosphere Reserve". The Organization hosts the National Focal Point for Ukraine.

Association "Our Home"

The association is a non-governmental organization dealing with biodiversity and large carnivores. "Our Home" won a small grants project by WWF DCP to carry out a project on Brown bears in the Carpathians.

The Carpathian Biosphere Reserve - CBR

The Carpathian Biosphere Reserve belongs to the Ukrainian State and is a site of the Nature-Protection Fund of the Ukraine, thus a nature-protected scientific-research institution of international significance. The scientific staff of the reserve gives much attention to the environmental grounds development of the natural ecosystems preservation and their management methods in the Carpathian region.

Charity Information Centre "Green Dossier"

Green Dossier is an information and publishing centre established in May 1994. Main activities: providing objective environmental and social information through mass-media and education on environmental journalism; preparing materials for own publications and various mass-media; consulting and other information services for journalists investigating environmental issues; publicity of environmental non-profit groups and their activities.Special environmental-cultural event for raising awareness on the Carpathian Convention: International world music and land art festival "Sheshory" organised in close cooperation with Ivano-Frankivsk regional state administration, NGOs from Kosiv, local community of Sheshory village; held from 2003 in summer time, more than 5000 participants from all Carpathian countries.

Institute of Ecology of the Carpathian National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine

The academic institute was founded in 1991. State Museum of Natural History, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine

The museum is a chain in the scientific, research and organizing structure of the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) of Ukraine and a constituent part of the Department of General Biology of the NAS of Ukraine. WWF DCP (Danube Carpathian Programme)

The WWF Danube-Carpathian Programme has worked in the region since 1988 to promote the conservation, restoration and sustainable management of nature for the benefit of both people and environment. The work is primarily focused on freshwater and forest resources in the Danube River Basin and Carpathian Mountains. The programme is a founding member of CERI and hosts the Secretariat and the Vice Chair.
