Instruction for data gathering

There are TWO main tasks for biological data gathering

  1. Main task for biology experts is to fill in data on occurrence of taxon/alliance within orogrpahic units of your part of the Carpathians and assign its afinity to landcover units and optimal range (minimal/maximal) of an altitude in which it occurs. Experts for alliances have to fill in also category of endemism.
  2. Main task for GIS experts (by cooperation with biology experts) is to collect more precise data (preferable polygons) on occurrence of each PRIORITY species or habitats. Minimum is one locality per orographic unit.

(for biology experts)

Form schema

Form schema description

  1. textboxes with name of taxons/alliances and their attributes (if it is focal for this project, if it is Natura2000 Annex II species, if it exists in country)
  2. subform of orographic units occupied by taxon/alliance from textbox 1, which is edited by buttons of listbox 3
  3. listbox with multiselection (you can use Ctrl or Shift keys for multiselection) – [Add] and [Del] buttons will add or delete selected orographic units in subform 2 – selection is done also on the mapbox 4
  4. mapbox with multiselection (you can use Ctrl key and mouse click for multiselection) or use following buttons for manipulation with map selection:
    • [CLEAR] = clears selection
    • [REFRESH] = selection is done on the base of selected orographic units in listbox 3
    • [SELECT ALL] = selects all orographic units
    • [SELECT RECORDS] = selection si done on the base of records in subform 2
  5. textbox, which informs you, how to deal with taxon/alliance; it is emtpy or it displays two messages:

    1. it means, taxon/alliance occurs in your country (according you „reference list“) and you have to record (with a help of listbox 3) in which orographic units it is

    2. it means, this is a priority taxon/alliance, which occurs in your country (according you „reference list“) and you have to record (with a help of listbox 3) in which orographic units it is and for each orographical unit you have to make more precise locality (for example by drawing it into map you should get from your gis expert)
  6. combo and text boxes for afinity of taxon/alliance to land cover units (posibble values: not important, low, middle, high) and its optimal altitude (range from minimum to maximum); in the case of alliances form you have to fill in also category of endemism (possible values: endemic, partially endemic)
  7. record selector – you can navigate to any record, it is also displaying number of records
  8. toggles between displaying ALL records or YES (only those which occure in you country) records – see changing of number of records in record selector
